Cartoon Saloon is a three time Academy Award (R), Golden Globe (R), BAFTA and Emmy nominated animation studio based in Kilkenny in the South East of Ireland. Employing over 120 crew, we are currently working on a number of projects in production and in development.  We are looking for a Lead Background Final Line Artist.  The Final Line Department will create Backgrounds containing the Final Line Art before progressing into the Background Color department. Excellent knowledge of and experience in Photoshop is required.   Responsibilities: - Responsible for creation of Black&White backgrounds containing the Final Line Artwork, following the style established in Reference Scene Illustrations - Create Final Line Backgrounds based on layouts referencing conceptual artwork and location designs  - Work closely with department Supervisor and implement notes and feedback - Artist should be adept at using traditional media (paint, ink, etc)  - Produce Final Line Backgrounds according to weekly quota - As lead artist, provide assistance to the supervisor and artistic and technical guidance to the team as needed  - Artist is required to work in-house The ideal candidate will have  - previous experience in a similar role or department - the ability to communicate briefings and feedback clearly to the team  - and be capable of maintaining a high level of visual quality - Must have the ability to influence and coach others through effective leadership - Must be able to keep a calm and respectful attitude under pressure to maintain a positive, upbeat and professional team environment.     Please note that there may be a test as part of the recruitment process. Thorndike, who proposed a theory of transfer based on common elements in two different tasks. Singley and Anderson resurrect Thorndike's theory of identical elements, but in a broader context and from the perspective of cognitive psychology.
