Il Merlin Spruce di Seagull è uno strumento diatonico portatile a quattro corde, perfetto per chi vorrebbe tanto fare musica ma non è ancora in grado di suonare bene uno strumento. La tavola è realizzata in abete massello, che dona un suono limpido e ben articolato allo strumento, e presenta una rifinitura satinata a olio. Il resto del corpo è in acero duro e presenta una costruzione string-through-body, in cui le corde sono fissate sul lato posteriore dello strumento (come per molte chitarre elettriche). Per mantenere una buona tensione delle corde, Seagull ha deciso di applicare il design neck-through, in cui il manico è un pezzo unico con il corpo.
