Researchers have recognized over the past few years that quantitative analysis of the ong>inong>cidence ong>andong> trends ong>inong> poverty, while essential for national economic development plannong>inong>g, must be complemented by qualitative methods that help planners ong>andong> managers understong>andong> the cultural, ong>socialong>, political, ong>andong> ong>inong>stitutional ong>contextong> withong>inong> which projects are designed ong>andong> implemented. This report is based on a two-day workshop held ong>inong> June , where outside research specialists ong>andong> World Bank staff discussed the importance of ong>inong>tegratong>inong>g these research methods.
