Deeply touched by both worlds of thought, Lou Andreas-Salome developed her own synthesis. Unlike Freud, for whom the unconscious was a reservoir for the repressed, and thus potentially pathological, Andreas-Salome saw precisely these internal components as a source of creativity and development.
