Precursore dei prodotti "usa e getta" fu lo statunitense King Camp Gillette () che, al principio del Novecento, fabbricò lamette da barba per i rasoi di sicurezza. Le Gillette costavano poco, non richiedevano affilatura e si buttavano dopo alcune rasature. Gli uomini d'allora, però, non erano consumisti come noi oggi. Le cose rotte o consunte finivano di rado nel pattume: si cercava sempre di aggiustarle o di "riciclarle". Ci si pose dunque il problema di come prolungare la durata delle lamette usa-e-getta. Furono inventati ingegnosi meccanismi che consentivano di applicare alle Gillette il procedimento della coramella e della pasta abrasiva, fino ad allora utilizzato per le lame dei rasoi a mano libera. Uno di quei meccanismi era il Be-Be Strop, prodotto in Germania negli anni '30. Si tratta di un telaio che monta due coramelle cilindriche, un supporto per le lamette e una manovella con ingranaggi. Il suo funzionamento è semplice: applicata la pasta abrasiva alle coramelle, fissata la lametta al supporto centrale, si gira la manovella mettendo in rotazione i cilindri. L'esemplare qui proposto è integro e funzionante. Esso misura 34 mm. di altezza, 78 mm. di larghezza e 80 mm. di profondità. Se l'affila lamette viene spedito, al prezzo d'acquisto bisogna aggiungere 10 euro di spese postali, che salgono a 15 euro se è richiesto il servizio di pagamento in contrassegno.
