Vongole d'acqua dolce
La Vongola d'oro (sp. Corbicula Fluminea) è un piccolo mollusco bivalve che vive infossato in substrati morbidi. Si nutre filtrando continuamente l'acqua, ragion per cui è spesso ricercato per l'impiego in acquari per ridurre il carico organico. Cresce fino ad un massimo di 5,5 cm, con un ciclo vitale di 6/7 anni. Non hanno particolari esigenze di spazio, ma logicamente non bisogna esagerare. Consiglio almeno 5 litri netti d'acqua per esemplare. Vive filtrando continuamente l'acqua, dalla quale trattiene microfauna e particelle organiche in decomposizione. Per questo motivo è preferibile inserirli in acquari già avviati da tempo, in quanto più ricchi di fitoplancton. Animale molto statico ed innocuo, non è in grado di creare problemi a nessun tipo di pesce, ma può subire gli attacchi di pesci aggressivi, per evitare ciò si possono inserire degli esemplari direttamente nel filtro(dove vive benissimo grazie alla continua corrente che le fornisce nutrimento e alla scarsità di luce), meglio se in un recipiente contenente sabbia. Vivono bene in qualunque tipo di acquario, caridinaio, tartarughiera, laghetto ornamentale o micro pond, tollerando praticamente ogni tipo di acqua e un vasto ranch di temperature, ma sono particolarmente sensibili al cloro, si consiglia pertanto di lasciar decantare l'acqua prima dei cambi. Consiglio personalmente di inserirle in un piccolo vaso o simile, in modo da fornirle una profondità maggiore di substrato e nello stesso tempo poterne controllare la vitalità, ma si possono anche lasciare libere di decidere dove infossarsi!
