Trasformatore oversize, componenti assemblati a mano e tutto il cablaggio interno in argento puro, case in pesante alluminio, frontale in spesso alluminio spazzolato ricavato con macchine a controllo numerico e scritte al laser. L'RP 5.1 è in grado di pilotare sia cuffie ad alta che a bassa impedenza (da 24 a 600 Ohm), suono robusto, dinamico e dettagliato, molto neutro. Cavo d'alimentazione staccabile quindi sostituibile scegliendo il preferito, cavo di segnale da collegare direttamente al lettore CD o preamplificatore, si accende e le valvole in circa 1 minuto riscaldano. Nel pannello posteriore sono presenti i due RCA, la presa del cavo d'alimentazione, e il controllo del gain (potenziometro del guadagno: in pratica un preset del volume che di norma va lasciato a zero (tutto ruotato in senso orario quindi alto). Ruotandolo attenua il segnale e serve solo nel caso si usino sorgenti ad uscita molto elevata ma usando un lettore CD non serve attenuare e quindi va lasciato a valore massimo. Doppia presa cuffia, una contrassegnata "H" e una contrassegnata "L". La prima ha un livello di uscita alto da usare con cuffie a bassa sensibilità come AKG 701, SENNHEISER HD 650, ULTRASONE Ed 7, la seconda ha un livello di uscita basso da usare con cuffie ad alta sensibilità come SONY QUALIA, R 10, ATL .
