This portrayal of the s provides a sense of the illusive glories of the Boom Era. It is filled with characters based on people Wilson knew well or had observed, such as Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley, and the Fitzgerald circle, and composers as varied as Cole Porter and Charles Ives. Written at a turning point in his career, before he left contemporary literature and radical politics to focus on history, travel, and his own past, this novel reveals Wilson's second thoughts about the s and his recognition of the aspirations and dilemmas of the artist in American society. Neale Reinitz has edited The Higher Jazz for the general reader. His introduction sets the novel in the historical context of Wilson'slife and writings, and his annotations explain the topical references and, more important, illustrate Wilson's method of composition.

The mission in Holland would be one that the men would never forget. The second part of the book continues when Warburg's disciple, Fritz Saxl, takes his place as director of what had become the famous Warburg Institute. On the night of December , with the help of a few assistants, Saxl with an heroic effort transported the entire library of over ahundred thousand volumes onto two small steamships and flees to London. Thanks to these few brave men and the hospitality of Lord Courtauld, today the Warburg Institute is a holy place of pilgrimage for every Art historian. With more than three hundred thousand titles and two hundred thousand periodicals the library contains forty percent of items missing at the British Library.

Offering auto exposure but not through-the-lens TTL metering; the metering cell is located alongside the rangefinder window with a high/low switch for meter sensitivity. The bright 47mm, Æ'1.9, Hexanon lens (5 elements in 5 groups) provides the lens performance that Konica is famous for. Like all Konishiroku's rangefinder cameras in the series starting with the Konica Auto S, the framelines in the viewfinder adjust not only for parallax but also for field of view. It has a dual-range CdS meter rather than the selenium meter of its predecessor, the Konica S111. Another novelty was the built-in "pull-out" lens hood. A quiet Copal SVA leaf shutter ranges from 1 sec. to sec. Flash sync at all speeds via PC connection as the camera is not fitted with a hot shoe.
