Scholars have also paid little attention to state constitutions, favoring the apparently more dynamic and significant federal scene. G. Alan Tarr seeks to change that in this landmark book. A leading authority on state legal issues, he combines history, law, and political science to present a thorough and long-needed account of the distinct and important role of state constitutions in American life. Tarr shows that state constitutional politics are dominated by three crucial issues with little salience at the national level: the distribution of power among groups and regions within states, the scope of state and local governmental authority, and the relation of the state to economic activity. He explains how state constitutions differ from the national Constitution in treating not only matters of high principle but also such mundane subjects as ski trails and motor vehicle revenues. He also explores why state constitutions, unlike their federal counterpart, have been so frequently amended and replaced. Tarr concludes that the United States not only has a system of dual constitutionalism but also has dual constitutional cultures. Powerfully argued and meticulously researched, the book fills an important gap in political and legal studies and finally gives state constitutions the scholarly attention they richly deserve.

Suono tipicamente England: non toglie ne aggiunge nulla, suono stra pulito e molto, ma molto, definito in ogni gamma e, secondo me fondamentale, non perde nulla nemmeno nei passaggi Musicali più veloci... merito del trasformatore Toroidale oltretutto, nel rispetto delle dimensioni complessive, bello grande. Elettronicamente perfetto, disossidato e pulito: non un fruscio ne un rumorino. Esteticamente c'è un segnino sulla parte superiore ma, quando lo riceverai, sarà sparito: PROMESSO!! Unica pecca, a parer mio, è che non ha l'ingresso Phono (il giradischi) ma con l'ausilio di un pre phono ( euro lo acquisti) collegato in Tape II risolverai (volendolo) questo piccolo gap! Initially, most local citizens were largely unconcerned with the prospect of having the nuclear plant in their community. With the accidents at Three Mile Island and Chernobyl, however, residents' complacency toward the power plant soon turned to opposition. Protest groups such as the Madres Veracruzanas emerged to join existing environmental groups in a fight to close down the facility. In "Mothers and the Mexican Antinuclear Power Movement," Velma Garcia-Gorena traces the protest movement against the Mexican government's Laguna Verde nuclear plant, outlining the movement's formation, development, and decline. Documenting the movement's key players and turning points in superb detail, she interweaves important historical narrative with a deft examination of the events, framing her analysis in terms of social movement literature.
