In The City that Became Safe, Franklin Zimring sets off in search of the New York difference through a detailed and comprehensive statistical investigation into the city's falling crime rates and possible explanations. If you listen to City Hall, aggressive police created a zero tolerance law enforcement regime that drove crime rates down. Is this self-serving political sound bite true? Are the official statistics generated by the police accurate? Zimring shows the numbers are correct and argues that some combination of more cops, new tactics, and new management can take some credit for the decline, but zero tolerance policing and quality of life were never a consistent part of the NYPD's strategy. That the police can make a difference in preventing crime overturns decades of conventional wisdom for criminologists, but Zimring points out the New York experience challenges the major assumptions dominating American crime and drug control policies that most everyone else has missed. First, imprisonment in actually New York decreased significantly from to and was well below the national average, proving that it is possible to have substantially less crime without increases in incarceration. Second, the NYPD sharply reduced drug violence (over 90%) without any reduction in hard drug use. In other words, they won the war on drug violence without winning the war on drugs. Finally, the stability of New York's population, economy, education, demographics, or immigration patterns calls into question the long-accepted cultural and structural causes of violence in America's cities. Steve Fuller argues that Kuhn actually held a profoundly conservative view of science and how one ought to study its history. Early on, Kuhn came under the influence of Harvard President James Bryant Conant (to whom "Structure" is dedicated), who had developed an educational program intended to help deflect Cold War unease over science's uncertain future by focusing on its illustrious past. Fuller argues that this rhetoric made its way into "Structure," which Fuller sees as preserving and reinforcing the old view that science really is just a steady accumulation of truths about the world (once "paradigm shifts" are resolved). Fuller suggests that Kuhn, deliberately or not, shared the tendency in Western culture to conceal possible negative effects of new knowledge from the general public. Because it insists on a difference between a history of science for scientists and one suited to historians, Fuller charges that "Structure" created the awkward divide that has led directly to the "Science Wars" and has stifled much innovative research. In conclusion, Fuller offers a way forward that rejects Kuhn's fixation on paradigms in favor of a conception of science as a social movement designed to empower society's traditionally disenfranchised elements. Durante l’anno il “Patrick Rafting Center ”propone corsi - guide, discese di rafting, eventi (come L’ Italian Rafting Tour) o esperienze di team building e/o uscite aziendali con l’ausilio di staff multietnico e di diversa formazione professionale negli sport acquatici e nell’outdoor.Vanno annoverati anche i corsi di First Aid (primo soccorso)e Basic Life Support (rianimazione cardiaca in attesa dell’arrivo di un’unità mobile di soccorso); nonché quelli di graduale approccio al Kayak fluviale e le attività supplettive riservate ai kayakisti con esperienza (specializzazione nel soccorso fluviale).Senza disdegnare le discese Rafting, Hydrospeed e Kayak.Per quanto riguarda le mete oltreoceano proposte stagionalmente si annoverano:Nuova Zelanda,Ecuador,Bolivia,Perù (programma Winter - Spring),Giappone,Nepal ed Australia (programmazione Summer- Autumn). Rafting & Windtunnel.Europa. giorni.Da Giugno a Ottobre ,tutti i venerdi',sabato e domenica. Croazia,Svizzera,Germania,Uk,Serbia,Spagna,Francia,Slovenia,Ungheria. a persona. Patrick Carafa, titolare del “Patrick Rafting Center” di origini italiane, madre ungherese,trascorre la prima infanzia a Rimini;inizierà la carriera in Trentino, sul fiume Noce,tra i dieci migliori al mondo per le attività fluviali,anche per il National Geographic,mondiali di Kayak ed europei di rafting in passato.La prima esperienza oltreoceano avviene in Nuova Zelanda,una terra che dopo aver girato in lungo e in largo (vivendola per tre mesi da indigeno o con indigeni), propone ciclicamente come destinazione di rafting internazionale: tra le mete il Kaituna River, nei pressi della città di Rotorua - detta anche Sulphur City, nel distretto dei laghi (almeno 15, disposti nell’isola del Nord, in Nuova Zelanda appunto)- famoso per essere il fiume con la più alta cascata del mondo (circa 7 metri), navigabile commercialmente con neofiti.
