At that time, Boston was undergoing a transformation from a quaint post-colonial town to a rapidly expanding Victorian metropolis. Bryant led this transformation, providing an important like between the earlier architecture of Charles Bulfinch and Alexander Parris and the later work of such practitioners as H. H. Richardson and Peabody & Stearns. In Building Victorian Boston, Roger Reed focuses on representative projects by Bryant, presenting them in a chronological narrative that both illuminates the trajectory of his career and creates a portrait of the profession of architecture during a defining period of New England history. Bryant designed more major buildings in Boston from to than any other architect. He also undertook commissions throughout New England, especially in towns linked to Boston by newly constructed railroad lines. In many ways, his practice presaged aspects of modern architectural firms. His ability to work with a variety of designers, his expertise in construction management, and his exceptional talent for self-promotion all contributed to his success. Although by the time of his death his work was no longer fashionable, newspaper accounts noted the passing of the "Famed Bostonian" and "Great Builder" whose career had had such a dramatic impact on the face of the city. For this volume, Reed has tracked down hundreds of Bryant's drawings as well as specifications, letters, newspaper articles, published renderings, and historical photographs. These materials are amplyrepresented in this book, the definitive study of a quintessential Victorian architect.

In the absence of ubiquitous, high-speed broadband Internet connections for residential and small-business customers, the demand for IT equipment and new Internet service applications may stagnate. Broadband policy is controversial in large part because of the differences in the regulatory regimes faced by different types of carriers. Cable television companies face neither retail price regulation of their cable modem services nor any requirements to make their facilities available to competitors. Local telephone companies, on the other hand, face both retail price regulation for their DSL service and a requirement imposed by the Telecommunications Act that they unbundle their network facilities and lease them to rivals. Finally, new entrants are largely unregulated, but many rely on facilities leased from the incumbent telephone companies at regulated rates to connect to their customers. This asymmetric regulation is the focus of this volume, in which telecommunications scholars address the public policy issues that have arisen over the deployment of new high-speed telecommunications services. Robert W. Crandall is a senior fellow in the Economic Studies program at the Brookings Institution. Space Work seleziona SALES ENGINEER per azienda settore metalmeccanico DESCRIZIONE DELLATTIVITA: la risorsa avrà la responsabilità di supportare la funzione Sales nella gestione degli aspetti tecnici e di prodotto rilevanti ai fini del processo di vendita. Affiancherà gli Area manager nella redazione della parte tecnica dellofferta sia nella trattativa che nella finalizzazione dellordine, individuando e valutando le esigenze manifestate dal cliente (e.g. specifiche tecniche, performance di prodotto) di cui costituirà la principale interfaccia. A seguito dellordine parteciperà alle riunioni di lancio di produzione e fornirà tutte le informazioni tecniche necessarie per il corretto svolgimento del progetto. Di concerto con lArea Engineering, definirà la soluzione tecnica ottimale che più corrisponde ai bisogni del cliente, analizzando la necessità di eventuali modifiche o adattamenti a prodotti esistenti in funzione delle specifiche richieste e partecipando, ove richiesto, agli incontri tecnici. Dovrà inoltre gestire le attività assegnate nel rispetto dei piani, assicurandone la rispondenza al sistema qualità dellazienda e monitorando i processi. REQUISITI RICHIESTI: Laurea in Ingegneria meccanica o formazione tecnica in ambito meccanico. Preferenziale aver maturato unesperienza tecnica di 5/8 anni in aziende produttrici di macchine automatiche in ruoli analoghi.
