Walter fusi (udine ) Vendo tre bellissimi oli, acrilico e sabbia su tela di walter fusi Dimensioni: 55 cm. x 55 cm. (con bella cornice in legno moderna scelta dall'artista stesso), (50 cm. x 50 cm. solo l'opera), in perfette condizioni Titolo: da "la lunga estate" Anno: anni '80 inizio '90 Sul verso, firma e titolo Vi ricordo che l'autore e' vivo, e l'opera e' stata acquisita direttamente dall'artista all'epoca, quindi non c'e' alcun dubbio sulla sua autenticita'. L'opera in questione e' un gioiello. L'opera e' bellissima, ha una tecnica molto particolare, materica, ricchissima di colore e geometria, come tutte le opere di fusi: dal vivo e' una cosa magnifica. Le foto non rendono assolutamente giustizia alla bellezza di quest'opera. L'opera, inoltre, é storica, perche' è degli anni'80 inizio anni '90. In piu' e' un'opera che ha veramente tutto: olio, acrilico addirittura in rilievo e sabbia. Vi ricordo che fusi e' un autore storico (ha ormai 86 anni), che e' passato attraverso varie correnti, tra cui l'esperienza informale, all'inizio della sua carriera tra gli anni '50 e '60, per poi passare all'astrattismo geometrico, e fino alla fine degli anni '70 sperimenta anche il concretismo. Negli anni '80 torna a firenze dove ritrova il piacere di dispingere, tornando alle origini informali e trovando un giusto equilibrio con le riflessioni geometriche. Artista di livello internazionale (ha esposto a bonn, chicago, new york) ed ancora vivente, richiestissimo anche all'estero, le cui quotazioni sono in crescita esponenziale continua. E' un artista che sicuramente esplodera' a breve verso l'alto (lo dicono tutti gli indicatori, visto che gli artisti informali geometrici tipo capogrossi e berti hanno ben altre quotazioni...), e sul quale puntare assolutamente perche' sara' del tutto impossbile trovarlo in futuro a queste cifre

Maggie Ross, whose sister Sallie died in , was the richest woman in Union County, North Carolina. Upon Maggie's death in , her will bequeathed her estate to Bob Ross--who had grown up in the sisters' household--and his daughter Mittie Bell Houston. Mittie had also grown up with the well-to-do women, who had shown their affection for her by building a house for her and her husband. This house, along with eight hundred acres, hundreds of dollars in cash, and two of the white family's three gold watches went to Bob Ross and Houston. As soon as the contents of the will became known, more than one hundred of Maggie Ross's scandalized cousins sued to break the will, claiming that its bequest to black people proved that Maggie Ross was mentally incompetent. Revealing the details of this case and of the lives of the people involved in it, Gene Stowe presents a story that sheds light on and complicates our understanding of the Jim Crow South. Stowe's account of this famous court battle shows how specific individuals, both white and black, labored against the status quo of white superiority and ultimately won. An evocative portrait of an entire generation's sins, "Inherit the Land: Jim Crow Meets Miss Maggie's Will" hints at the possibility for color-blind justice in small-town North Carolina. Gene Stowe grew up in Monroe, North Carolina, and was a reporter for the "Charlotte Observer" for twelve years. Thomas Kuhn: A Philosophical History for Our Times

Whether they adore or revile him, critics and fans alike have tended to agree on one thing: Kuhn's ideas were revolutionary. But were they? Steve Fuller argues that Kuhn actually held a profoundly conservative view of science and how one ought to study its history. Early on, Kuhn came under the influence of Harvard President James Bryant Conant (to whom "Structure" is dedicated), who had developed an educational program intended to help deflect Cold War unease over science's uncertain future by focusing on its illustrious past. Fuller argues that this rhetoric made its way into "Structure," which Fuller sees as preserving and reinforcing the old view that science really is just a steady accumulation of truths about the world (once "paradigm shifts" are resolved). Fuller suggests that Kuhn, deliberately or not, shared the tendency in Western culture to conceal possible negative effects of new knowledge from the general public. Because it insists on a difference between a history of science for scientists and one suited to historians, Fuller charges that "Structure" created the awkward divide that has led directly to the "Science Wars" and has stifled much innovative research. In conclusion, Fuller offers a way forward that rejects Kuhn's fixation on paradigms in favor of a conception of science as a social movement designed to empower society's traditionally disenfranchised elements. Certain to be controversial, "Thomas Kuhn" must be read by anyone who has adopted, challenged, or otherwise engaged with "The Structure of ScientificRevolutions." He joined his friends and allies Aaron Henry and the martyred Medgar Evers to combat injustices in one of the nation's most notorious bastions of segregation. In Mississippi, the civil rights struggle began in May with "wade-ins." In open and conscious defiance of segregation laws, Mason led nine black Biloxians onto a restricted spot along the twenty-six-mile beach. A year later more wade-ins on beaches reserved for whites set off the bloodiest race riot in the state's history and led the U.S. Justice Department to initiate the first-ever federal court challenge of Mississippi's segregationist laws and practices. Simultaneously, Mason and local activists began their work on the state's first school desegregation suit. As the coordinator of the strategy, he faced threats to his life. Mason's memoir gives readers a documented journey through the daily humiliations that segregation and racism imposed upon the black populace -- upon fathers, mothers, children, laborers, and professionals. Born in in the slums of Jackson, Mason acknowledges the impact of his strong extended family and of the supportive system of institutions in the black neighborhood. They nurtured him to manhood and helped fulfill his dream of becoming a physician. His story recalls the great migration of blacks to the North, of family members who remained in Mississippi, of family ties in Chicago and other northern cities. Following graduation from Tennessee State and Howard University Medical College, he set up his practice in the black section of Biloxi in and experienced the restrictions that even a black physician suffered in the segregated South. Four years later, he began his battle to dismantle the Jim Crow system. This is the story of his struggle and hard-won victory. Gilbert R. Mason, M.D., continues as a practicing physician in Biloxi. Although a life-long Democrat, he served as a school-desegregation adviser to the Republican administration of President Nixon, as well as a friend, adviser, and appointee of several Mississippi governors. James Patterson Smith is an associate professor of history at the University of Southern Mississippi. He has published in numerous periodicals, including the "Journal of Negro History" and the "Journal of Mississippi History."
