ISBN: , SKU: , AUTHOR: Rugh, Susan Sessions, PUBLISHER: University Press of Kansas, When TV celebrity Dinah Shore sang "See the USA in your Chevrolet," s America took her to heart. Every summer, parents piled the kids in the back seat, threw the luggage in the trunk, and took to the open highway. Chronicling this innately American ritual, Susan Rugh presents a cultural history of the American middle-class family vacation from to , tracing its evolution from the establishment of this summer tradition to its decline. The first in-depth look at post-World War II family travel, Rugh's study recounts how postwar prosperity and mass consumption--abetted by paid vacation leave, car ownership, and the new interstate highway system--forged the ritual of the family road trip and how that ritual became entwined with what it meant to be an American. With each car a safe haven from the Cold War, vacations became a means of strengthening family bonds and educating children in parental values, national heritage, and citizenship. Rugh's history looks closely at specific types of trips, from adventures in the Wild West to camping vacations in national parks to summers at Catskill resorts. It also highlights changing patterns of family life, such as the relationship between work and play, the increase in the number of working women, and the generation gap of the sixties. Distinctively, Rugh also plumbs NAACP archives and travel guides marketed specifically to blacks to examine the racial boundaries of road trips in light of segregated public accommodations that forced many black families to sleep in cars--a humiliation that helped spark the civil rights struggle. In addition, she explains how the experience of family camping predisposed baby boomers toward a strongenvironmental consciousness. Until the s recession ended three decades of prosperity and the traditional nuclear family began to splinter, these family vacations were securely woven into the fabric of American life. Rugh's book allows readers to relive those wondrous wanderings across the American landscape and to better understand how they helped define an essential aspect of American culture. Notwithstanding the rueful memories of discomforts and squabbles in a crowded car, those were magical times for many of the nation's families.

ISBN: , SKU: , AUTHOR: Lodge, George C. / Bellamy Foster, John, PUBLISHER: New York University Press, In this provacative study of the "disease" afflicting American industry today, George Lodge, a distinguished professor at the Harvard Business School, reveals the malady as a psychological disorder, characterized by a refusal to face the facts of interdependence in a competetive world; by a reluctance to confront the grave inadequacies in the operation of our great institutions--business, labor, and government; and by the fact that "leaders do not lead; those with responsibility do not fight. Timidity, born of resignation, discourages change." Lodge begins by defining the disease through its symptoms: failing industries, stubborn unemployment, lagging economic growth, stagnant productivity, overseas competition, focus on short-term financial gain, and, perhaps most telling, the pervasive feeling among Americans that their land of plenty has become a land of want. He examines the gradually changing roles and relationships between government, great corpoations, and trade unions that are nevertheless obscure by traditional and detrimental assumptions, distrust, and a set of ideologies that are increasingly inefficient, ineffective, inconsistent, and irrelevant. And he finds the incoherence of American industrial policy exemplified by the fact the we preach the old virtues of free trade and the sanctity of the market while in actuality we pursue a strategy--including tax incentives and trade subsidies--the misshapes the free market. Based on interviews with more than 150 leaders of the nation's institutions, "The American Disease" goes beyond diagnosis to offer logical and feasible proposals to cure this dangerous condition. Lodge suggests, for example, that the office of the United States Trade Representative be expanded and strengthened to deal with the growing pressure for protection against imports and with the confusion among our trading partners. He shows why business and labor must work together more closely in a non-adversarial way with federal and local government to determine community needs. He explains why Washington will be forced to direct the future of electric power in America, rather than leave the decisions to fifty different sets of state regulators. And he makes a number of recommendations to alter the ways in which corporations manage themselves and deal with government, and to reduce the social and economic costs that are implicit in these changes. George C. Lodge believes that recovery from our institutional ailments is possible, and this timely and perceptive book offers a resoundingly rational course toward that crucial goal.
ISBN: , SKU: , AUTHOR: Patrick, Dave, PUBLISHER: Polair Publishing, Twenty-NINE influential thinkers present their own 'vital messages' about the changes that are happening and the changes that must happen as we move fully into a new world consciousness. Symbolic of the changes is the year , the year the ancient Mayan Calendar simply ends. It is probably best to think of it, though, as the great symbol of a new beginning. THE VIEW adds greatly to our understanding about this watershed, beginning from the simple question, 'How do we take charge of the change?'.THE VIEW also offers a look forward and back at what has led us to the brink of a new spirituality in life -'heart over mind': the movement that was once called simply 'the New Age'. It begins with one of the world's great pioneers. In Sir Arthur Conan Doyle published a call to the world to take up the challenges death and the afterlife offered, and acknowledge a spiritual framework wider than any church then offered. He called his book THE VITAL MESSAGE, and from the start he made at changing people's consciousness much of the inspiration of other writers has unfolded. This book celebrates the 150th anniversary of his birth, on 22nd May . The 'Aquarian Age', another term for our evolving consciousness, is radical in its ideas: distrustful of large organizations, thriving when it works in small groups, respectful of diversity and counter-cultures. It is also faced with dramatic new problems - sustainability in a threatened world, for instance - and huge intellectual opportunities, such as the new physics. THE VIEW makes it plain that while we may harness science, science cannot do without the simple human understanding that comes from the heart. The new spirituality is thus personal, but it is authentic. In different ways the contributors to THE VIEW take up today's opportunities and challenges with great insight. They suggest ways in which humankind may now move forward, and describe some of the discoveries and innovations which may reshape our lives in years still to come. Chapters cover Conan Doyle, Spirituality, Health, Community, Future-thinking and Business.Contributors include Neale Donald Walsch, Ervin Laszlo, Peter Russell, Owen Dudley Edwards, Gaye Mack, Roger Straughan, Drew Pryde, Colum Hayward, Darrell Mann, James Baltzell, Errol Weiner, A&K Laszlo and Hunter Lovins.

ISBN: , SKU: , AUTHOR: Semmel, Bernard, PUBLISHER: Johns Hopkins University Press, As Great Britain and other Western nations built empires--both formal and informal--writers on economic and social questions developed theories to explain why and how advanced industrial states exercised control over colonial regions. Different schools of thought emerged: some anticipated the growth of a cosmopolitaneconomic order, others believed in a brutal imperialism necessary for an expanding capitalism, still others saw evil precapitalist forces at work. In The Liberal Ideal and the Demons of Empire, noted historian Bernard Semmel traces the evolution of the ideas about imperialism and discusses four major schools of thought: the classical economists, the social theorists, the national economists, and the Marxists. From Adam Smith to Lenin, the subject of colonialism--and then imperialism--remained controversial. Although classical economists offered visions of a prosperous world economy based on free trade, and liberal idealists argued that rational self-interest would eliminate aggressive mercantilism and wars of conquest, such "utopian" ideals proved elusive. Even defenders of capitalism noted contradictions between the harsh realities of the emerging industrial system and the optimistic economic theories that attempted to describe it. In the end the critics--including liberal sociologists, national economists, and Marxists--would win the day by defining imperialism in terms of historic demons: feudal aristocrats, medieval usurers, and evil empires. These ideas, Semmel concludes, became props of the liberal, socialist, and fascist ideologies of our time. "A generation ago, Richard Koebner traced the changing meanings of the word imperialism from its rather surprisingNapoleonic beginnings. Now, building on a succession of books with which he has enriched the literature, Bernard Semmel addresses the wider question of the evolution in thought to which the evolution of the word was, so to speak, an index. Semmel's book will beunquestionably useful to historians--particularly those outside the confines of European expansion--and will be valuable as supplemental reading in college courses. One wonders if it will have the effect one would most like to see--on politicians, publicists, and praters who continue to use the word imperialism so inappropriately."--Robert K. Webb, University of Maryland, Baltimore County Bernard Semmel is Distinguished Professor of History at the Graduate School of the City University of New York. His studies of imperialism include Imperialism and Social Reform, Jamaican Blood and Victorian Conscience, and The Rise of Free Trade Imperialism. He has also written on Methodism, John Stuart Mill, and naval strategy.
ISBN: , SKU: , AUTHOR: Yago, Glenn, PUBLISHER: Oxford University Press, USA, Junk bonds burst into the nation's headlines as the fastest growing and most controversial financial instruments of the s. Branded with an unflattering nickname, these high yield securities were tarnished in the public eye by waves of negative publicity. Critics cast the financiers and entrepreneurs who pioneered their use as symbols of a decade of greed and financial excess. By the end of the s, the heyday of junk bonds had seemingly come to a close with the conviction of junk bond pioneer Michael Milken and the bankruptcy of Drexel Burnham Lambert, the brokerage that dominated the high yield market. But the controversy surrounding junk bonds continues. Now, in Junk Bonds, business professor Glenn Yago turns the tables on conventional wisdom about this new financial technology. He offers the first systematic examination of the facts about high yield securities. His analysis provides hard evidence that demystifies junk bonds and explodes many of the popular myths that surround them. Junk Bonds sheds light on the role of high yield financing in what Yago calls the democratization of capital. Before the advent of junk bonds, only companies with an "investment grade" rating--five percent of the American companies with sales over $35 million--had access to long term capital. In effect, the author argues, 95 percent of American companies were denied the means to finance growth and business development. Yago shows how junk bonds changed all that, breathing life into thousands of American companies that had been shunned by the capital markets. His research demonstrates that these "junk" companies outperformed many Fortune 500 firms in job creation, product development, sales, and business innovation. The real contribution of junk bonds, according to Yago, was to improve the productivity and competitiveness of American business by restructuring companies in the wake of the corporate conglomerations of the s and s. His findings show that divestitures by companies financed with high yield bonds were not necessarily destructive. Many sold-off units flourished as independent enterprises at a time when numerous "investment grade" companies stagnated or closed plants or fired workers. This restructuring of corporate America has enabled businesses to compete in a changing international environment, benefiting managers, workers, stockholders, and investors alike. Junk Bonds provides readers with a scholarly analysis that shears away the hype and hysteria that often accompany rapid change. And at a time when Wall Street is under greater scrutiny than at any time since the Depression, this provocative study provides a timely and thoughtful contribution to the debate surrounding junk bonds.
ISBN: , SKU: , AUTHOR: Landman, Janet, PUBLISHER: Oxford University Press, USA, "We are a people who do not want to keep much of the past in our heads," Lillian Hellman once wrote. "It is considered unhealthy in America to remember mistakes, neurotic to think about them, psychotic to dwell upon them." Yet who in their lifetime has never regretted a lost love, a missed opportunity, a path not taken? Indeed, regret is perhaps a universal experience, but while poets and novelists have long explored its complexities, very little has been written from a scholarly perspective that examines this emotion. Now, in Regret, Janet Landman takes a lively and perceptive look at this multifaceted phenomenon. Much as Anthony Storr did in his best-selling Solitude, Landman here provides an insightful anatomy of an emotion, ranging far and wide to illuminate the nature of regret--what it is, how it changes you, how you experience it. She draws on a breathtaking variety of sources, ranging from psychology, economics, philosophy, and anthropology, to classic works of literature. We learn what people regret most--lack of education comes first, followed by employment, marriage, and children--and how regret differs from other emotions, such as remorse, disappointment, sadness, or guilt. In one of the most fascinating sections, Landman examines four "worldviews" of regret--the Romantic, the Tragic, the Comic, and the Ironic--as exemplified in four major novels: Great Expectations, Notes From Underground, The Ambassadors, and Mrs. Dalloway. In Dostoevsky, for instance, regret is a "poison of unfulfilled desires turned inward," destructive, incurable. Though it is common to regard regret as painful and destructive--being "stuck in the past" or "ruled by emotions"--Landman reveals some surprising benefits. At best regret is a dynamic changing process--one can transcend regret, and thus transform the self. In Anne Tyler's Breathing Lessons, for example, we witness how the characters Ira and Maggie Moran find themselves ready to move forward in their relationship only after they have accepted life's limits and losses without resignation or despair. "It is a good thing," Landman writes, "that the human mind is not limited by what actually exists, but works in such a way that it draws comparisons between what happens and what might have happened. It is in this ability to imagine alternatives, and the capacity to care about the particularities of experience, that we accomplish the task of becoming fully human." For anyone who has ever questioned, experienced, or avoided regret, here is a provocative and challenging look at this enduring emotion.

ISBN: , SKU: , AUTHOR: Flanagan, David, PUBLISHER: O'Reilly Media, JavaScript is a simple programming language from Netscape that can be embedded in your HTML Web pages. It allows you to control the behavior of the Web browser, add dynamically created text to your Web pages, interact with the user through HTML forms ("without CGI scripts), and, in version 3.0 of Netscape Navigator, even control and interact with Java applets and Navigator plugins. JavaScript is not an alternative to Java, but an ideal partner. The two languages have separate but very complementary features. Since JavaScript is a simple language that can be embedded directly into a Web page, without need for compilation, it is accessible to more Web page authors, and may actually have a larger short-term impact on the Web and on Internet computing than Java itself. This book is a definitive guide for JavaScript. The first eight chapters document the core JavaScript language, and the next six describe how JavaScript works on the client-side to interact with the Web browser and with the Web page. These chapters are followed by a"complete reference section that documents every object, property, method, event handler, function, and constructor used by client-side JavaScript. In a separate reference section, you will find the interaction between JavaScript and HTML documented -- mainly aspects of HTML that relate to JavaScript. A forthcoming edition of this book will cover the use of JavaScript on Web servers, as well as the object, properties, and methods of server-side JavaScript. This book documents the version of JavaScript shipped with Navigator , and 2.0.2, and also the much-changed version of JavaScript shipped with beta versions of Navigator 3.0. The 3.0 informationis current as of the 3.0b4 release. JavaScript is also supported in Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0, and this book discusses JavaScript support in Beta 1 of MSIE. A notable feature of these versions of JavaScript is the frustrating number of bugs that still exist. The book contains a long list of known bugs and is careful to document commonly encountered bugs on the reference pages of the JavaScript objects. Why is this book in "Beta"? We printed this book in a "beta" edition because JavaScript is rapidly evolving. Within Netscape, the version of JavaScript that will be in Navigator 3.0 is being called "JavaScript 1.0." This is an implicit admission that JavaScript as implemented in Navigator 2.0 was still a beta version of the language. Despite JavaScript's beta status, a tremendous number of people are using it and need quality documentation for it. At the same time, however, we realize there have been a lot of changes to JavaScript since Navigator 2.0 was released. As this book is being written, Navigator is at the 3.0b4 stage, and we are beginning to hear about the new features that will be available in the 3.0b5 release. It seems, in fact, that JavaScript is changing faster at this point than at any other time in its
Serious photographers and cinematographers know that good lighting and proper exposure are more important now than ever. With the higher demands of today',s digital medium, "garbage in" can mean hours of postproduction. They know that color is a critical factor when multiple light sources are involved. Changing reflectors, adding diffusion or adjusting power levels will result in a color temperature change that needs to be corrected. They know that taking the time to do it right is always a good investment because "perfect in" always looks better than an image that has been adjusted. Samyang 35mm T1.5 AS UMC VDSLR LensThe Samyang 35mm T1.5 AS UMC VDSLR lens is afast, wide angle, manual focus prime lens for full frame cameras, or afast standard prime when used on APS-C/DX sensors, available mounts forCanon, and Nikon fitThis VDSLR (Video DSLR) version has beendeveloped primarily for professional cine / movie making purposes. TheVDSLR version feature follow focus gearing and decoupled aperture, whichallow the user to smoothly and quietly change focus and aperture /depth of field whist filming, and link to professional follow focus camsystems. The Samyang is rated in T-Stops rather than F-stopswhich is usual for movie camera lenses. F-stop number expresses thespeed of the lens on the assumption that lens transmits 100% of theincident light. The T-number expresses the actual light transmission, which is more accurate, and is the standard in professional cine lenses. The Samyang 35mm T1.5 AS UMC VDSLR lens version is optically the same as the standard Samyang 35mm f1.4 AS UMC version. Producingsuperior resolution and sharpness throughout the image equal orexceeding lenses 3 times as expensive, the Samyang 35mm lens is truly aprofessional class lens at a affordable price.Suitable for fullframe and cropped sensors the 35mm focal length has universalapplications, the lens is bright / fast wide-angle lens perfect forlandscape, journalism and general shooting applications, including lowlight photography. When mounted on a camera with APS-C sensor, willbecome a popular, multitasking 50mm prime lens, perfect for generalphotography including low light photography.AT wide aperturesthe Samyang 35mm video lens provide beautiful bokeh, (the character ofout-of-focus areas) which is perfect for portrait type applications, orphotography where ultra smooth out of focus backgrounds or foregroundsis preferred. This technique helps to separate the subject from thebackground giving very pleasing and professional results in both filmand still photography. Aided by its 8 aperture bladed design, thesmoothness of the bokeh provided by the Samyang 35mm is excellent.Although bokeh character is a personal preference various independenttests and users rate the Samyang 35mm lens as one of the best lensesregardless of cost or manufacturer when it comes to its bokeh character. The optical design of the Samyang 35 mm T1.5 lens is twelve elementsarranged in ten groups and includes two elements with high refractiveindex, which helps reduces its weight and dimensions to a moderate levelfor a full frame capable lens. The inclusion of an aspherical opticalelement minimizes helps reduce lateral chromatic aberration, UMCmulti-layer coatings provides high contrast and faithful colourreproduction. The design incorporates floating lens elements allowing topreserve high image quality with minimum focusing distance. The focus ring features toothed rings compatible with professionalgeared follow focus systems available in the film industry and likewise atoothed, decoupled (de-clicked) aperture ring. Such modifications allowfor smooth and precise control over focus and aperture during videorecording / filming. This allows for ultimate manual control of focusand exposure when filming from one scene to another with different lightsource intensities, such as changing exposure values (EVs) from insideto outside, or even in-camera fade ins etc.The Samyang VDSLRversions can be used in still photography as well as for video purposes. There are increasing numbers of users using DSLRs for filming and HighDefinition (HD) video and manual lenses allows the user to change focus(focus pulling) and aperture during filming.Samyang 35 mm F1.4AS UMC has been designed with great emphasis on the smallest details toboth optics and workmanship, which place the lens among the bestphotographic products in its class.Supplied with front and rearlens caps, petal-type lens hood (which is reversible for transporting)and a soft lens pouch. Samyang 85mm T1.5 AS IF UMC VDSLR LensThe Samyang 85mm T1.5 is a manual focusprime lens, this VDSLR (Video DSLR) version has been developed primarilyfor professional cine / movie making purposes. The VDSLR versionfeature follow focus gearing and decoupled aperture, which allow theuser to smoothly and quietly change focus and aperture / depth of fieldwhist filming, and link to professional follow focus cam systems.TheSamyang 85mm T1.5 is a manual focus prime lens, designed to giveexceptional results at wide apertures. At T1.5 great images can beobtained, which is perfect for portraiture and low light shooting, particularly when mounted on a full frame DSLRs.The SamyangVDSLR Cine lenses are rated in T-Stops rather than F-stops which is thestandard for professional movie camera lenses. F-stop number expressesthe speed of the lens on the assumption that lens transmits 100% of theincident light, and therefore is theoretical rather than a real worldmeasurement. The T-number expresses the actual light transmission, andthus is accurate for exposure purposes. It is also worth noting that theSamyang lenses achieve excellent transmissions properties.Thebokeh (the character of the out-of-focus blur) is a primary concern forprofessionals choosing an ultra large aperture lens for shallowdepth-of-field photography. The Samyang 85mm T1.5 lens design offersexcellent bokeh quality of out-of-focus highlights when used near wideopen, perfect for film and cine applications. Independent tests andusers confirm the Samyang',s beautiful bokeh character, surpassing lenses4 times the price. The lens optical construction is the same asthe 85mm f1.4 lens comprising of 9 lenses divided into 7 optical groupswith one aspheric lens element. The Samyang 85mm is designed withinternal focusing (IF) meaning the lens does not increase in size whenfocusing. A further positive aspect to internal focusing is that thelens is much less likely to get dust inside, as opposed to externalfocusing (or zooming) lenses which can suck in dirt during use. The 8bladed aperture design aids a great bokeh character at near wide openapertures. The Samyang 85mm T1.5 IF MC features Multi-coatedlenses which aid the very high level of light transmission, and addedresistance to flare and ghosting. It features a good sized manual focusring and is perfectly adapted to most photographic applications(exclusive of sports or fast moving subjects) where manual focus is notan issue. Accurate for focus critical situations can be achieved throughuse of focusing in live view mode, available to most newer cameramodels. In practice users including professional photographers havefound manual focus of the Samyang 85mm not to be an issue, even shootingat f1.4 with a very shallow depth of field in low light scenarios withstatic and slow moving subjects accurate focus can be achieved givingexcellent results thought the image on full frame cameras.Thereare also increasing numbers of users using DSLRs for filming and HighDefinition (HD) video and manual focus lenses allows the user to alterfocus during filming, and hence why the VDSLR versions were developed.Thefocus ring features toothed rings compatible with professional gearedfollow focus systems available in the film industry and likewise atoothed, decoupled (de-clicked) aperture ring. There are increasing numbers of users using DSLRs for filming and HighDefinition (HD) video and manual lenses allows the user to change focus(focus pulling) and aperture during filming. The Samyang 85mm T1.5 lens should be a serious consideration toall professional or amateur photographers requiring a fast prime lens, regardless of budget. Intonator Encompassing a heritage of more than 20 years of delivering professional tools to the pro audio industry, TC Electronic proudly presents a high end vocal processing tool. Dedicated to the professional vocal recording engineer, the Intonator is aimed at reducing tedious engineering time spent on doing vocal re-takes. Not only does it provide you with the ultimate solution to vocal pitch correction, but it offers various valuable processing tools as well, including a De-esser, and a special Adaptive LoCut filter designed specifically for vocal processing. Quality Tools For Quality Engineering Tonal integrity is a must when dealing with delicate human vocals. The Intonator preserves the artist's personal touch by allowing vibrato, initial intonation and correction limited to individual notes. Utmost care has been taken in the software development to ensure that all fine adjustments applied to the incoming signal are being processed in a subtle, yet highly effective manner! Transparency Based on TC's world-renowned DARCâ,,¢3 chip technology (incorporating 96kHz internal processing and true 24 bit resolution), the Intonator provides you with an ultra-transparent signal path. It features fully integrated AES/EBU, S/PDIF, Tos-link and ADAT digital I/O's, and is 96kHz, 88.2kHz, 48kHz and 44.1kHz compatible on both digital and analog I/O's. Coherence Apart from the clear advantages of reducing the time spent on doing vocal re-takes, the Intonator also brings back coherence into the performance. Instead of cutting and pasting bits and phrases, with the loss of coherence as an obvious result, you now have a professional tool for processing and correcting your vocals in real-time. Two Signal Setups The Intonator also makes you capable of configuring the signal path in two different ways. In Normal mode the ADIOS (Analog Dual I/O's) configuration enables you to make simultaneous recordings of processed and unprocessed vocals, making comparisons a breeze (see fig. A). Digital signals, from your digital multitrack recorder for instance, can be configured the same way. In Dual mode you have the option of pitch-correcting the signal in one channel while using the dynamics, De-esser and LoCut, on the signal in the other channel (see fig. B). Being On Top You can choose to correct a single note simply by using the unique "Do-not-process-anything-but-this-note" function achieved via an internal custom scale feature, or type in your personal scale. A Pitch window allows you to specify when a note will be considered out of tune, whereas the Amount control limits the level of Pitch correction added to the audio. The Audio-to-MIDI conversion allows you to keep track of the incoming pitch history and/or correction history, giving you the advantages of being on top of things throughout the entire recording session. The Intonator features full MIDI automation making time based pitch shifting a simple operation. Use your keyboard for real-time manual pitch correction simply by hitting the notes to be processed. Dithering The use of dithering is very important when interfacing digitally between audio equipment. When resolution is changed from higher to lower, dithering is necessary to minimize distortion. In the Intonator you have the user friendly TPDF Dithering. The Output resolution of the Intonator is 24 bit, when the receiver of the Intonator signal has a lower resolution, Output Dither must be applied to equal the resolution of the receiver. Premium Converters When converting from analog to digital or vice versa, you should always try to use the full dynamic range of your converters. Even though the converters in the Intonator are 24 bit, analog gain may be applied before the AD's and after the DA's to make full use of them. The analog signal-path is balanced and can carry professional levels. Applications With the Intonator, you can establish a completely digital signal-path for vocal editing and correction. When tracking, the unit's fine A to D converters may be utilized to get high quality digital signals directly to Multitrack, ADAT, ProTools etc. Audio-to-MIDI With a simple setup you can monitor and edit your vocals externally. Just track the incoming pitch history to your sequencer, add the necessary correction and play back the pitch correction to the Intonator Keyboard The keyboard gives you instant access to changing the Root note of the current scale or the notes allowed to be corrected. Simultaneously the keyboard also indicates the incoming note, making it possible to recognize the note about to be processed. Display The Display shows you the current Root note and Scale. While processing you can see both the incoming signal and the amount of correction added to the source, creating a visual confirmation of the process taking place. Window, Attack and Amount These three knobs allow you to individualize the processing in detail. The Window knob determines how close to a particular note the source should be in order to be corrected. The Attack knob conducts the response-time before the correction sets in. This will help preserve the artist's personal touch by e.g. allowing vibrato. The Amount knob sets the amount of correction added to the signal. Manual Pitch Use the Manual Pitch control to add pitch correction by hand. The wheel can also be remote controlled by your keyboard modulation wheel or even provide in-sync changes when locked to a sequencer. The De-esser uses a relative threshold technique. This means that the actual threshold is always set according to the average level of the source signal. Consequently, the De-esser always adapts to the incoming signal and maintains the same threshold to the average level regardless of the Input signal. Adaptive Locut The Adaptive LoCut is a pitch controlled LoCut Filter. Instead of cutting off frequencies under a predetermined value, the Adaptive LoCut filter controls the cut off frequencies dynamically in accordance with the incoming signal. This ensures a perfect LoCut that never removes too much low end.
